Mark Shandrow, a longtime Long Beach resident, is a real estate broker and the sole founder of Shandrow Group, a local, grassroots boutique real estate operation that prides itself on providing superior local real estate services to Southern California home buyers and sellers, as well as several financial institutions.

Mark envisions a forward-thinking real estate firm that withstands and rises above the constantly changing tides in real estate, especially amidst the recent wave of foreclosures, short sales, REOs and distressed properties, all of which he and his professional team are trained and experienced experts in effectively managing, marketing and selling on behalf of owners, investors and banks.

In 2004, Mark Shandrow joined Keller Williams as a new real estate agent.  He gravitated toward the company’s strong learning-based environment.  There he quickly gained accolades as a top salesperson-earning “Rookie of the Year” and many top sales productions awards.  While at Keller Williams Mark participated in the company leadership by serving on the Agent Leadership Council, instructed courses and mentored newer agents.

As the national and local Southern California real estate market quickly changed from a hot seller’s market to a foreclosures market, Mark quickly responded by dramatically changing his business strategy. He rapidly became Keller Williams’ top foreclosure agent, intimately working with many of the country’s top asset management firms, including Ocwen Asset Management, Single Source Properties, Aurora Home Loans and Green River Capital. Recognizing the pressing need for a specialized real estate brokerage service that also can offer professional rental services, Mark opened his brokerage, The Shandrow Group, Inc., in 2008.

Mark has extensive, first-hand experience in Southern California real estate from all perspectives—as a longtime buyer, seller and property manager, and eventually as a licensed Realtor and real estate broker. His breadth of knowledge lends him a uniquely informed insider edge in the local real estate market.

At the age of 27 Mark bought, renovated and began managing his first investment property in Long Beach. Since then, Mark has successfully invested in real estate and managed properties for 10-plus years. He owns some 20 rental units in Long Beach, California and out-of-state.

In 1990, Mark earned a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Economics from the University of New Hampshire’s distinguished Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Before becoming a Realtor and real estate broker, Mark co-founded a national non-profit organization called Bikestation®. As the executive director of Bikestation®, he traveled the country pioneering the concept of creating livable communities through increased bicycle and public transportation usage. The marketing and public relations skills that Mark gained in the non-profit arena are instrumental in continuing to build his client-focused real estate business.

While working for Bikestation®, on weekends and evenings Mark occupied his spare time buying, remodeling and selling real estate as an investor. Eventually he realized that real estate was his true passion. Our Operations Manager, Linda In, is Shandrow Group’s real estate transaction process specialist. As a dedicated, hardworking and team-spirited person, Linda brings great energy into the Bixby Knolls office. Using her 8 years of experience in accounting and customer service, she knows how to keep Shandrow Group on target and within budget.

With characteristics such as strong sense of the community, infectious enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing excellent service, Linda will lead the office in providing the best REO real estate services in LA County. Linda’s extensive experience in customer service provides her the people skills necessary to assist buyers and sellers in all aspects of the market.

Since 2002, Linda has pursued a career in the real estate industry. By simplifying the most difficult and time-consuming tasks, her knowledge of the real estate transaction process will ensure all of our sales are handled efficiently and professionally. Her demonstrated ability to problem-solve and support customer outreach, has helped many firms to improve and nurture their client relationships.

Providing accounting support in the Property Management department of the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Linda researched and managed Taxes and HOA/Condo Associations, solved closing issues and negotiated legal fees. Having held positions as a department manager at franchise home improvement, a building supply representative for most of the local home improvement centers and a customer service representative for a major furniture manufacturer, Daniel is well-suited to assist Shandrow Group’s agents, REO clients and home owners.

As Shandrow Group’s Real Estate Field Agent, Daniel assists in the management of vacant and occupied bank owned houses in the Antelope Valley Area. In this role, he performs occupancy checks and negotiates with occupants, delivers Cash-for-Keys checks, re-keys and secures properties, takes photos of new and existing properties, and performs property inspections.

As his most memorable experiences have been in the real estate industry, Daniel enjoys working with real estate professionals and helping people in the Long Beach community find, buy and sell homes. Daniel is also a dedicated family man and the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, 7 girls and 3 boys.

What is Hire-A-Youth?

The Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network’s Summer Youth Employment Training Program (Program) is your opportunity to help your community, help our youth and help your business. The Program, made possible through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds, will provide salaries and workers’ comp for 1,500 eligible youth living in the Network’s service areas of Lomita, Long Beach, Signal Hill and Torrance. Candidates work approximately 180 hours during July and August.

Our Hire a Youth Candidate, Areli, says “I came across Hire a Youth by a letter I have received in the mail, which said I was chosen by the City of Long Beach to participate in the Hire a Youth program. At first, I have to admit,  I wasn’t all that excited to join because the letter  said that we needed to go to orientation – I really didn’t like that because I thought it was going to be super long.”

So What Changed Areli’s Mind?

“My younger sister had received the letter too and she decided to do the orientation program. When she came back she had told me that it was awesome and that there were a lot if positions on the medical field which is where I want to major in when I graduate from high school.”

“I decided to give them a call and they set me up with an orientation day, which was long by the way , and after that they set me up for an interview to choose my job. On interview day the staff came out saying that there were no more jobs except for janitor jobs to clean schools etc…I was so mad because I went there for nothing, and I was not going to be a janitor. I asked if I could leave and they told me that I should wait until I talked to a worker.”

“So I waited and  the worker told me that there was this one job and its position was Clerical and Marketing Assistant and the company’s name was Shandrow Group. When I read what I was going to be doing, I was so excited because I wanted to pursue real estate if I didn’t jump into the medical field. I called Linda, the manager for Shandrow Group.”

“When they told me to start working on Monday, July 7th, I was so excited that I couldn’t even sleep the night before. Now that I have started to work at Shandrow Group, I expect to learn all that I can so I can be part of this company.”

There is no cost. Hire a Youth is a federally funded paid youth employment program. The Youth Opportunity Center coordinates payroll and provides liability and compensation insurance.
